The regular overflowing of the river Sarthe miraculously spared this area from the development undergone by its surroundings; the Fuie des Vignes is a wild natural area located between two districts in Alençon. Monitored by naturalists for over a century, thanks to the Alençon local authorities, the site is now appropriately managed to preserve its remarkable biodiversity.
