In addition to an interjection expressing astonishment, "Haha" is also a noun belonging to the specific vocabulary of gardens. In this case, it refers to a deep, dry ditch, often masonry, which delimits the entire perimeter of a garden known as a park when its surface area is large enough.

The Orne Archives and the Normandy Regional Inventory Department have joined forces to carry out this ground-breaking study, with the aim of improving our knowledge of public parks and gardens in the department?s main towns and small cities of character, from the end of the 18th century to the beginning of the 21st century.

To coincide with the 2026 edition of the Normandie Impressionniste festival, which will be dedicated to the theme of gardens and commemorate the centenary of the death of Claude Monet (1840-1926), this exhibition will be presented in partnership with the Fonds départemental d?art contemporain.

It will highlight the ongoing convergence between art and garden composition. The scenographic tour will include a central core in Alençon, as well as several stages throughout the département, particularly in the Petites cités de caractère.
