The definition of furnished tourist accommodation is as follows: “a furnished villa, flat or studio, for the exclusive use of the tenant, offered for rent to a visiting clientele for a stay characterised by a daily, weekly or monthly rental and who do not elect domicile there” (article D. 324-1 of the Tourism Code).
Furnished tourist accommodation may not be let for more than 90 days to the same person. It may be a second home or a principal residence. In the latter case, the tourist rental period may not exceed 3 months (90 days) (article L.324-1-1 of the Code du Tourisme).
