Willem, what he likes...

Willem G.

Willem, head of the reception, shop and ticket office at Alençon Tourisme. My job? At the heart of one of the Tourist Office's key areas, I make sure that every visitor leaves with a smile on their face... and a desire to come back! Between coordinating the team and local partners, organising schedules and promoting the local offer, I also make sure you can find the best local products in our shop. If you're looking for a good restaurant or a good place to party, I'm your man!

Écouves Forest and its hiking trails

As a lover of nature and quiet, peaceful places, I like to take my rucksack and stroll along the trails of the Écouves forest trail station.

I remember my first hike in the Écouves forest, and from the very first steps I enjoyed the silence punctuated by birdsong and the rustling leaves of the oak and beech trees.

Each signposted route in the forest offers a different setting, and it’s quite a climb to reach the Vignage rocks or the Signal d’Écouves, but the views and scenery are well worth it! Don’t forget to take my picnic for a well-deserved break among the trees, away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Attend concerts at La Luciole

As a music fan, I love going out in the evenings to La Luciole, Alençon’s contemporary music scene, to discover new talent, established artists and renowned musical personalities such as Charlie Winston, Morcheeba, Deluxe and many others!

La Luciole is much more than just a concert venue: it’s a vibrant hub for contemporary music, bringing together artists, curious audiences, committed teams and long-term cultural projects.

If you want to unwind after work, there’s nothing better than attending the free Thursday evening ‘Afterworks‘ concerts, which showcase emerging musicians from Normandy. It’s a not-to-be-missed event!
