Owner of "Les deux Marguerite

Stéphane is a child of Alençon. He grew up there and has a deep love for his town. However, in order to continue his studies at Science Po, he left to go to Paris. His vocation: to become a journalist-commentator. His subject: sport! From the time he was a teenager, he had already developed a passion for this profession, which he practised regularly on a local radio station. After a spell on a football newspaper, in the 90s he landed a freelance job in the sports department of the famous Canal+ television channel, working on the ‘Jour de foot’ programme. He stayed there for more than 25 years…

He divides his time between the capital and the former Cité des Ducs, as he is heavily involved in local life. He was president of the Alençon football club from 1998 to 2001, as well as a councillor at Alençon town hall during the same period. His job as a journalist and football commentator allows him to travel a lot, and from his stays abroad he has many ideas for decoration and services that will influence him in the creation of his guest house.

Alençon is one of his favourite towns, so it was only natural that in 2018 he should decide to buy a beautiful house with a pleasant park in the historic district of Saint-Léonard, very close to the former Château des Ducs. He decided to name his guest house “Les deux Marguerite” in homage to Marguerite de Lorraine and Marguerite de Navarre, two women who left their mark on the history of Alençon. Work was completed in early 2023 and Stéphane welcomed his first guests in June. Since then, loyal customers have been coming back regularly.

He’s delighted to have been able to bring his project to fruition, and is thrilled to be able to contribute to the region’s dynamism as a tourist destination, for which we thank him!
