Amelie Romet PainterAmélie Romet, a native of the Pays d’Auge, had planned to study mathematics, but fate decided otherwise… In the end, she decided to train as a cabinetmaker and marquetry restorer. She developed a real enthusiasm for her craft, which she learned in Paris over a period of 10 years. She then left the capital to set up her own business in Calvados. Her reputation and talent as a restaurateur brought her many customers, even the illustrious Simone Veil!
But one meeting was to determine her future… that of her husband, a cabinetmaker, with whom she settled in Saint-Céneri-le-Gérei. Together they created “L’atelier d’Amélie” and merged their customer bases. After 20 years of flourishing business, she decided to give up marquetry restoration to devote herself entirely to her other passion: painting. An artist at heart, she has been painting landscapes, nature and animals since she was a child, and describes her work as “contemporary figurative”. More recently, she’s even been inlaying her work with gold leaf!
