Calling all heritage and history enthusiasts! Our region, with its lush green landscapes and majestic forests, is home to buildings that bear witness to centuries of architecture and fascinating stories. If you’re looking to discover the history of the region through its stones, the châteaux are a must. They delight the eye with their varied architecture and also tell the tumultuous story of Normandy, between battles, architectural transformations and the evolution of aristocratic society. Each site is unique and offers a multitude of treasures to discover. These châteaux bear witness to a rich past, just waiting to be explored.

    Courtilloles Castle 

    Built in the 18th century by Alexandre-Louis François de Courtilloles, a builder ennobled by Louis XV, the château, on the edge of the Forêt de Perseigne, enjoys an exceptional view over the Alençon plain. The estate was acquired in 1994 by the Gasztowtt family, who are working hard to preserve this precious heritage.
    The chapel and dovecote have been restored, and the garden reconstructed in the French style.

    Groups of 10 to 15 are welcome on request.

    Carrouges Castle 

    Don’t miss this surprising château and its estate in the heart of the Normandy-Maine Regional Nature Park. With its exceptional parade room, furniture and collections assembled over 7 centuries by the same family, the visit plunges you into the history of the great aristocratic families. Once home to famous guests such as Louis XI and Catherine de Médicis, it now reflects a whole art of living!
    Managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, the château is open to visitors all year round and offers a wide range of events throughout the year.
